Champaign First Responders to Hold Joint Training at The High School of St. Thomas More
First responders from the Champaign Police and Fire Departments will hold joint training <a href="https://healthylife7.com/paratroopers-train-mongolian-forces-for-alaska-joint-exercise/” title=”Paratroopers Train Mongolian Forces for Alaska Joint Exercise”>exercises next week at The High School of St. Thomas More (3901 N Mattis Ave, Champaign). The training exercises will take place on Monday, July 13, Wednesday, July 15, and Friday, July 17, and will run from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. The multi-day training schedule will allow Police and Fire personnel from multiple shifts to participate in the exercise
The drills are designed to help police, fire, and emergency medical personnel strengthen their coordinated response to rapidly evolving emergency situations. This joint training is part of an ongoing effort to ensure Champaign first responders are prepared to respond quickly, communicate effectively, and work together safely during major incidents
Residents can expect to see multiple first responder vehicles – including police, fire, and ambulance – as well as an increased police presence in the area. The training exercises are designed to coordinate a timely response starting from the arrival of vehicles on-scene. First responder vehicles will be seen arriving, staging, and departing the area throughout the day. The exercise will involve the use of training weapons with non-projectile “blank” rounds. Blank rounds will be used only inside the building but may be heard by residents in the surrounding area.
The public is asked to avoid the training site for first responders to have space to properly conduct the exercise. The High School of St. Thomas More and its parking lots will be closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic during the training. Nearby roadways, including Mattis Avenue and Saber Drive, will remain open to all traffic
Media representatives are welcome to cover the training exercise on Monday, July 13, from a designated area in the southeast parking lot of the high school. Champaign Police Department command personnel will be on-site to coordinate media throughout the day on Monday, and a media briefing on the training exercise will be held at 11:45 a.m
The Champaign Police and Fire Departments wish to thank The High School of St. Thomas More for their assistance and the use of their facility for this training exercise
