TYLER COUNTY —First responders spent nearly 13 hours fighting a raging fire that consumed the old Warren Junior High School building, but they managed to save the Little Dribblers Gym, the only structure still in use at the campus
Tyler County Emergency Management Coordinator Justin Dilbeck tells KFDM the cause is under investigation
They received word at about 1:20 a.m. Sunday of a structure fire at the old Warren Junior High School campus. He says it’s been closed for many years
The Warren Volunteer Fire Department was called out, along with the Fred VFD, Ivanhoe VFD, Spurger VFD, and Woodville VFD. Allegiance EMS was asked to be on standby at the fire
The crews fought the blaze and used a defensive stance to save the Warren Little Dribblers gym
“Thank you Joe Blacksher, Tyler County Commissioner Precinct 1, for the help with equipment,” said Dilbeck. “At noon, Shady Grove VFD was called so manpower could be refreshed. Thank you, Warren Doughnuts. for the donated doughnuts for our breakfast. Thank you to ALL the first responders that came and fought hard.”
Dilbeck told us the scene is secure and all firefighters returned home safely to their families
