100 chronic disease patients get Tk 50 lakh in Rangpur

RANGPUR, July 14, 2026 (BSS) – The Department of Social Services (DSS) distributed Taka 50 lakh among 100 helpless patients suffering from chronic diseases as a medical assistance grant to help them bear costly medical expenses.
At the event held at the Rangpur Group Auditorium of Rangpur Community Medical College and Hospital on Monday afternoon, 100 patients suffering from cancer, kidney disease, liver cirrhosis, stroke, congenital heart disease, and thalassemia were each given a cheque for Taka 50,000.
This assistance grant was provided under the government’s Financial Assistance Programme for Patients Suffering from various chronic diseases.
Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ruhul Amin was present as the chief guest at the function presided over by Rangpur Group Managing Director Md Nazmul Ahsan Sarkar
Moderated by Rangpur Group Additional Director Md Mirajul Muhsin, Deputy Director of Rangpur District Social Services Office Aniruddha Kumar Roy was present as the special guest at the function.
Members of the Board of Directors of Rangpur Group, officials and employees of Rangpur Community Medical College and Hospital and beneficiary patients and their relatives were present.
Speaking as the chief guest, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ruhul Amin said that the government is continuously expanding the scope of social security programmes to stand by the indigent and people suffering from almost incurable diseases in the society.
“Such assistance is being provided with the aim that no patient is deprived of necessary services due to the high cost of treatment,” he said.
He appreciated the sincere role of all concerned in properly delivering government grants to the beneficiaries and emphasized the continuation of this humanitarian initiative.
Managing Director of Rangpur Group Md Nazmul Ahsan Sarkar said that the Rangpur Community Medical College and Hospital authorities are working tirelessly to ensure the best service to the patients in coordination with government initiatives.
The patients and their relatives who received the medical assistance grants expressed their gratitude to the government as well as the concerned authorities.
