Director General of School Education and State Project Director Monica Rani has issued detailed guidelines to DIET principals, Divisional Assistant Directors of Basic Education, District Basic Education Officers, Block Education Officers and other concerned officials for implementing the initiative
According to the directions, both Hindi and English editions of the ‘My Health World’ book, along with other teaching-learning reirls’ Schools and recognised schools across Uttar Pradesh
The study material will be used during regular classroom teaching as well as morning assemblies, children’s assemblies, parent-teacher meetings, school health programmes and other educational activities
Teachers will also receive orientation and training to ensure the effective use of the teaching material in classrooms
The programme integrates health education, nutrition awareness and behavioural change into school education to encourage responsible health practices among students while supporting their holistic development
Students will be taught about balanced and nutritious diets, the harmful effects of junk food, the importance of maintaining proper hygiene, mental well-being and adopting healthy lifestyle habits
Special emphasis will also be placed on regular yoga, sports and physical activity as part of students’ daily routine
Schools have been directed to conduct sports activities regularly in accordance with the academic timetable to encourage fitness and active living among children
The guidelines also call for creating awareness among students about maintaining balanced screen time and the responsible use of digital devices
Students will be educated about the importance of adequate and quality sleep as an essential part of a healthy lifestyle
Schools have also been instructed to encourage students to develop reading habits by making use of library books during school hours as well as in their free time, promoting both intellectual development and reduced dependence on screens
In addition, schools will organise special awareness programmes under the theme ‘Healthy Organs, Healthy Life’ to educate children about maintaining good health and understanding the harmful effects of unhealthy lifestyle choices
Health and nutrition awareness will also become an integral part of Bagless Day activities in schools
Students will participate in project work, poster-making, drawing competitions, debates, essay writing, quizzes, role-plays, skits, cricket and other experiential learning activities centred on health and nutrition
According to the government, these practical activities are intended to help children better understand the importance of healthy living while motivating them to adopt healthier lifestyle practices in their daily lives
The Uttar Pradesh government has also directed schools to make effective use of study material and digital redia (FSSAI) as part of classroom learning and awareness programmes

To further strengthen outreach, health and nutrition-related messages will be disseminated through school notice boards, departmental WhatsApp groups, School Management Committee meetings and other appropriate communication platforms
