A new nutrition shop in Brighton is offering area residents a variety of healthy beverage options, from shakes to teas
Brighton Nutrition hosted a grand opening celebration Tuesday, July 21, but opened in May, said business owner Jamie Craig. The store is located at 9864 E. Grand River Ave
“It was amazing,” Craig said of this week’s grand opening. “There was a lot of community support.”
Previously, the space occupied by Brighton Nutrition was home to another nutrition store, Healthy’s, which closed this past winter, Craig said. Nearby businesses include Crumbl Cookies and Mancino’s Pizza & Grinders
“It was a space we could just move into and open, and we had heard there was a big support from the community,” Craig said
Craig, who lives in New Boston, also owns Ypsilanti Nutrition, a shop in Ypsilanti that offers the same beverages. She opened Ypsilanti Nutrition about five years ago, and operates the stores with help from her four children as well as her daughters-in-law
In addition to operating the stores, Craig has worked as a fourth grade teacher for Taylor School District for nearly 20 years
“In education, you can’t pass anything down to your children,” Craig said. “I am building a legacy and a lifestyle for my family.”
Customers at Brighton Nutrition can choose from a wide range of meal replacement protein shakes, clean energy teas, Mega Teas, protein coffees, and more sport-focused shakes offering hydration and electrolytes. Additionally, the store offers a full vegan menu
Each protein shake available at the store contains about 24 grams of protein with a variety of vitamins and minerals. Craig noted that the protein shakes are low in calories and contain zero to one gram of sugar
The store’s Mega Teas are made with herbal tea and an energy boost packed with B vitamins along with other ingredients such as aloe and collagen
“It’s a sustainable energy, so there’s no crash,” Craig said
The store’s pricing for individual items ranges from about $5 for kids menu items to about $9.50 for regular menu items. The store’s combos, which feature a Mega Tea and a shake, cost about $17
The store, which is home to about five employees, is not currently hiring. All store employees are Herbalife distributors
Brighton Nutrition is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The store is closed Sunday
