Nine students have completed UR Medicine Finger Lakes Health’s Certified Nursing Assistant training program
The July 2026 graduating class includes Faith Bray, Maddison Dishaw, Lyzette Cooper, Hannah Scharping, Holly LaPrade, Kenda Hallett, Heaven King, Dylan Bogart and Clayvon Bell
Finger Lakes Health offers the paid, state-approved training program over four weeks. It includes 138 hours of classroom, laboratory and clinical instruction held Monday through Friday
Graduates are eligible to take New York’s certification examinations after completing the program
Health system officials said the training can also serve as the first step toward other healthcare careers. Many certified nursing assistants continue their education to become licensed practical nurses or registered nurses
CNA positions are currently available at Geneva Living Centers, The Homestead in Penn Yan, Huntington Living Center in Waterloo and other long-term care facilities
Finger Lakes Health is offering new CNAs a $2,000 hiring bonus. Transportation assistance is also available to people who train in Geneva and accept positions at The Homestead or Huntington Living Center.genevapr
Employees working at The Homestead may receive $125 per week in transportation assistance, while those working at Huntington Living Center may receive $75 per week
