A workplace wellbeing session led by Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland sparked conversation, awareness and a generous donation drive for the charity’s Cults shop

Staff at an Aberdeen engineering consultancy have been learning more about reducing the risk of chest, heart and stroke conditions at a Lunch and Learn session delivered by Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS).

The wellbeing session at Wood in Aberdeen, held on 17 June, brought together 20 attendees for an informal and practical discussion about the steps people can take to look after their <a href="https://healthylife7.com/the-biggest-health-food-myths-we-still-believe/” title=”The Biggest Health Food Myths We Still Believe”>health and wellbeing. The session highlighted how small changes and better awareness can make a real difference to your health.

The Lunch and Learn was organised through Pam Occupational Health (OH), with support from Laura Kennedy, PAM OH Head of Clinical Operations in Aberdeen. Laura has a long-standing connection with CHSS, having previously run the charity’s Cults shop. Laura’s family connection to CHSS also goes back to 2015, when her daughter was crowned Miss Aberdeen Charity after raising £4,500 for the charity.

Alongside arranging the session, Laura helped organise a donation drive with PAM OH and Wood colleagues. The response was fantastic, with 25 high-value bags donated and delivered to the CHSS Cults shop after the event.

Anne Magarin, Community, Events and Corporate Fundraiser for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland said: “Lunch and Learn events are such an important way for us to connect directly with people in their workplaces, share practical advice, and help start conversations about reducing the risk of chest, heart and stroke conditions.

“They also give us a valuable opportunity to raise awareness of the support CHSS provides across Scotland, so more people know we are here when they need us.”

CHSS is Scotland’s largest health charity supporting people with chest, heart and stroke conditions, and Long Covid, with a vision of ensuring there is No Life Half Lived in Scotland.

Lunch and Learn sessions offer organisations a simple, engaging way to support staff wellbeing while raising awareness of the steps people can take to reduce their risk and access trusted health information.

To host your own Lunch and Learn session at your business please email lunchandlearn@chss.org.uk.

If you’re living with the effects of a chest, heart or stroke condition or Long Covid and are looking for advice and information, please contact Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland’s Advice Line on 0808 801 0899. You can also text ADVICE to 66777 or email adviceline@chss.org.uk
