Columbia student-athlete alumni have registered a 97 percent success rate over the last ten years
NEW YORK —Columbia Athletics’ Success Through Well-Being continues to deliver strong outcomes for student-athletes preparing for life after graduation. According to the Success Through Well-Being team, 96 percent of Columbia University’s Class of 2025 student-athletes who responded to a Department survey reported securing post-graduate plans 12 months after University Commencement.Among graduating student-athletes who reported plans, 65 percent secured full-time employment, while 20 percent will pursue graduate education. The remaining alumni are engaged in a variety of opportunities, including fellowships, internships and other professional experiences.Student-athlete alumni entering the workforce have accepted positions across a broad range of industries, including finance, business, engineering and technology, healthcare, consulting, law, sports, and communications and media. Members of Columbia Athletics’ Class of 2025 have joined companies and organizations such as the National Football League, Johnson & Johnson, NBC Universal, Apple, Merrill, Barclays, and more.The results reflect Columbia Athletics’ mission “to maximize the opportunities for our student-athletes to reach their highest levels of achievement here at Columbia and for the rest of their lives.” The Class of 2025 data continues a decade-long trend of success for Columbia student-athlete alumni, with an average success rate of approximately 97 percent between 2015 and 2025 securing post-graduate plans following graduation.
“Our student-athletes consistently demonstrate the resilience and leadership that position them for success after graduation, and these outcomes are a reflection of their hard work and commitment,” said Peter Pilling, Campbell Family Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education. “Whether they are beginning careers with leading organizations, pursuing advanced degrees, or exploring other opportunities, they leave Columbia prepared to make an impact in their chosen fields.””We are proud to provide a support system that helps our student-athletes navigate those transitions,” Pilling continued. “The work of our Success Through Well-Being staff, in collaboration with the Center for Career Education, Beyond Barnard, and our alumni network, plays an important role in helping students identify opportunities and build confidence as they take the next step in their journeys.”
The Columbia Athletics Success Through Well-Being (STWB) program equips student-athletes with the skills, support, and resources to enhance overall student-athlete well-being, achieve success as a Columbia student-athlete, and transition into post-graduate life. The Success Through Well-Being team provides support to student-athletes in areas including academics, mental performance, career development, sports nutrition and well-being.
