A batch of PlayStation 5 RPG remasters are set to release tomorrow, and getting a ton of strong reviews ahead of its release

Blue Reflection Quartet is available soon, and getting some strong early buzz

Koei Tecmo’s Blue Reflection Quartet, which collects several JRPG remakes, is out tomorrow on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 1 & 2, and PC. Luckily for fans looking to pick up the game, it’s getting a ton of strong buzz early. The game currently holds a 78 score on OpenCritic, with 67% of critics recommending it. While that may not sound fantastic, for a more niche RPG remake collection like this, it’s good buzz

PlayStation Lifestyle’s Tyler Treese praised the collection, calling it “a fantastic way to jump into Gust’s underrated JRPG series.” Cubed3’s Luna Eriksson also said the collection was great, noting it “despite its questionable fan service, it is hard not to fall in love, as Blue Reflection Quartet offers great characters and combat systems that will keep fans of the genre stuck” to their consoles

Pixel Byte’s Zach Barbieri called it “imperfect,” but that imperfectness is also what makes it special. “The Blue Reflection series invokes many franchises some might look at as better when compared to it. I never found this to be an issue, though. There is a deep catharsis to be found in the halls of each of these schools, and somewhere it can hold a mirror up to your own trauma and make you feel seen.”

GamesHedge’s Umair Khalid also praised the collection, saying it “offers dozens of hours of heartfelt storytelling, memorable characters, and satisfying turn-based combat that make it an easy recommendation for JRPG fans.”
