James Turner, who ran the fitness club in the Route 25A plaza shared with Aldi and Dollar Tree, died suddenly and unexpectedly last week, leaving behind a family now being supported by the community he built. The Miller Place man was 52
Iron Sanctuary announced Turner’s death in an Instagram post Wednesday, writing that he had helped shape the gym and the community around it, noting that he was more than a friend or business partner — he was family
The gym said it would honor him by carrying on the values he stood for: hard work, loyalty, respect and looking out for each another

GoFundMe page raises over $18K
A GoFundMe titled “Support for James Turner’s Family and Home” had raised $18,368 of a $24,000 goal from more than 180 donors as of Saturday morning. The fundraiser was launched on Wednesday on behalf of Turner’s wife, Ana
“We are raising money for the expenses of care for James Turner’s family and home,” the fundraiser reads. “He was a strong, loving, selfless person who did his best to ensure he was there for everybody he cared for.”
Tributes have poured in from the gym’s community. Rick Hauser, in a Facebook post, called Turner one of his “brothers.”
“Everybody always ask what can they do to help? We can help support his family during this time the way he always supported us,” Hauser wrote. “This should be an easy ask we all love you forever rest in POWER James Turner.”
A memorial visitation for Turner was held Friday evening at Moloney’s Lake Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Ronkonkoma
