ORIGINAL STORY (8/4/26 at 10:50 p.m. ET)Police in Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office responded to the home of Perez Hilton (whose given name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr.) after the celebrity blogger and reality television alum was seen in a highly disturbing video, wherein he appeared to be nude and slashing at his own body with a knife while covered in blood
In a statement provided to TV Insider, the MDSO’s public information office confirmed the incident on Tuesday (August 4) night after the graphic video was shared by others who witnessed the stream
“The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office received multiple calls regarding an individual who was live-streaming acts of self-harm on social media. Deputies quickly located the individual’s residence, where they spoke with family members on scene, and he was confirmed alone inside,” the statement reads
“In many incidents involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves, deputies prioritize de-escalation by creating time, distance, and opportunities for communication,” the statement continues
“At this time, deputies have tactically disengaged while continuing to monitor the situation and providing the needed support to his family.”
In the video, the media personality is brandishing a knife while talking incoherently to the camera, covered in what appeared to be blood. Nude and seemingly disoriented, Perez was making a series of disturbing, difficult-to-follow statements while seemingly using the knife on himself
Hilton had previously indicated struggles with mental health. In April,he posted a video in which he claimed “The Devil is trying to bring me down” and asked for prayers from followers
