The annual U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals ratings are designed to help patients and their healthcare providers make informed decisions about where to receive care for complex medical conditions and specialized treatments

For the 2026-2027 rankings, U.S. News evaluated nearly 4,500 hospitals across 14 adult specialties and 23 procedures and conditions. Fewer than half earned recognition in any of the 37 areas evaluated. To determine the Best Hospitals for rehabilitation, U.S. News analyzed each hospital’s patient outcomes, the complexity of the cases treated, and overall hospital performance. To earn recognition among the nation’s top rehabilitation hospitals, facilities must demonstrate exceptional results while caring for patients with the most complex medical needs.
