(NewsNation) — Fitness influencer and podcaster Jillian Michaels won’t speculate on recent gaunt images of singer and actress Ariana Grande that have alarmed fans, but she says in general, the entertainment industry is pushing weight loss too far
“When people are dangerously thin, it’s the reflection of an eating disorder, and that is also the flipside of the same coin when it comes to obesity,” Michaels told “Batya!” over the weekend. “I would imagine that a lot of people in Hollywood are probably inherently insecure. It’s not a healthy environment.”
Grande, the 33-year-old “Wicked” star, recently announced she would take time off after finishing her current tour. Fans have expressed concern over her bony appearance and questioned whether she has serious health issues that should be addressed

Some have even speculated that the normally fit-looking Grande may be taking GLP-1s. Health experts have warned that the weight-loss medications could effectively be abused by healthy people with unrealistic standards about what their bodies should look like
Michaels calls GLP-1s “an eating disorder in a pen” — and a potential slippery slope. People may be reluctant to get off them because the pounds will return, “and then some,” she said
“These medications are a marriage, not a fling, and if you think you’re going to be a person that steps in and out of these, you’ve got another thing coming,” Michaels said. “These should never be put in the hands of people that are not morbidly obese with significant comorbidities like Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, fatty liver, and so on.”
