3 Knoxville hospitals listed among Tennessee’s best on U.S. News rankings

Three Knoxville hospitals ranked among U.S. News & World Report’s 2026-27 Best Hospitals list released Aug. 4, with the University of Tennessee Medical Center earning the No. 1 spot as best regional hospital
UT Medical Center, Covenant Health Parkwest and Covenant Health Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center were among 10 Tennessee hospitals on U.S. News & World Report’s list. Hospitals in Nashville and Memphis also made the list
Since 1990 U.S. News & World Report has been publishing a best hospitals list. The 2026-27 list evaluated 4,500 hospitals, analyzed 810 million hospital visits and assessed performance across 14 adult specialties and 23 procedures and conditions. Patient experience, preventable complications and risk-adjusted mortality rates were factors U.S. News used when determining rankings
University of Tennessee Medical Center
UT Medical Center earned the No. 1 ranking as the best hospital in Knoxville and No. 3 ranking as best hospital in Tennessee
Evaluators identified UT Med as high performing in 12 adult procedures including: leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma; colon cancer surgery; gynecological cancer surgery; lung cancer surgery; abdominal aortic aneurysm repair; heart attack; pacemaker implantation; back surgery (spinal fusion); maternity care (uncomplicated pregnancy); knee replacement; ear, nose & throat surgery and lung cancer surgery
Covenant Health Parkwest
Covenant Health Parkwest ranked the No. 2 best hospital in Knoxville and the No. 7 best hospital in Tennessee
Parkwest is considered high performing in 11 adult procedures including: leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma; colon cancer surgery; prostate cancer surgery; abdominal aortic aneurysm repair; aortic valve surgery; heart bypass surgery; pacemaker implantation; transcatheter aortic valve replacement; back surgery (spinal fusion); hip fracture and knee replacement
Covenant Health Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center
Covenant Health Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center was ranked the No. 3 best hospital in Knoxville and the No. 8 best hospital in Tennessee
The Fort Sanders hospital was determined to be high performing in nine adult procedures and conditions including: leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma; colon cancer surgery; gynecological cancer surgery; lung cancer surgery; abdominal aortic aneurysm repair; pacemaker implantation; hip fracture; hip replacement and knee replacement
