Abbott and Google join forces to deliver AI-powered glucose insights

Abbott and Google have launched a new collaboration focused on helping patients understand how their daily routines can impact their cardiovascular health.

The multi-year partnership involves using Google’s advanced artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to analyze data captured by Abbott’s Lingo continuous glucose monitor (CGM). Lingo users can log into the Google Health smartphone app and watch how even minor lifestyle changes impact their health. These actionable insights can be combined with the Google Health Coach feature—premium subscription required—to deliver “tailored recommendations that help people build healthier habits.”

Abbott and Google will also be working together on new research designed to help researchers understand more about the relationship between daily habits and cardiovascular health

“The biggest challenge in healthcare isn’t treating disease—it’s helping people stay healthier longer,” Olivier Ropars, divisional vice president of Abbott’s Lingo business, said in a statement. “Abbott’s leadership in biowearables and Google’s expertise in AI and consumer technology create a powerful opportunity to make personalized insights available at unprecedented scale. Additionally, we are advancing metabolic health research through one of the largest real-world studies of its kind, generating new insights into the relationship between glucose and everyday behaviors. That research will help shape future AI-powered guidance and metabolic health innovation. Together, we can help people better understand their bodies and take action before health challenges become health conditions.”

“The future of health lies in turning complex health information into personalized guidance that people can use every day,” added Rishi Chandra, vice president and general manager of Google Health. “Abbott and Google are creating a more complete picture of health that can help people better understand the connections between their daily habits and overall well-being. We have an opportunity to provide powerful, personalized health insights that can help people live longer, healthier lives.”

Abbott’s Lingo CGM is an everyday wearable that tracks a user’s glucose levels at all times. It was built to help adults who are not actively using insulin keep an eye on their cardiovascular health and make adjustments as needed
