- The individual was on campus between 1:00 p.m. on Aug. 12 and 9:00 p.m. on Aug. 13, 2026, and was confirmed to have been in various hospital locations including the Emergency Department waiting room, Pediatric Emergency Department, and Janet Weis Children’s Hospital.
- Geisinger advises individuals who were in the affected areas during the specified time frame to monitor for symptoms, especially unvaccinated and immunocompromised individuals who face higher risk, and to call ahead before visiting any medical facility if symptoms develop.

According to a news release from Geisinger, the individual was on campus between 1:00 p.m. on Aug. 12 and 9:00 p.m. on Aug. 13, 2026
Geisinger confirmed the visitor was in the GMC Emergency Department waiting room, the Pediatric Emergency Department, the second floor of Janet Weis Children’s Hospital, the GMC Atrium, and the Fluoroscopy department

Geisinger also posted a statement on social media advising anyone in those areas during the window to monitor for symptoms and consult their primary care doctor
Dr. Michael Fitzpatrick, Geisinger’s Central Region chief medical officer, stated in the release that overall risk is low for immune individuals, defined by Geisinger as those born before 1957, previously infected, or vaccinated with two MMR doses. Geisinger noted unvaccinated and immunocompromised individuals face significantly higher risk
Measles symptoms include high fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and a spreading rash. Geisinger instructs anyone experiencing symptoms to call ahead before visiting any medical facility so staff can implement isolation protocols
Geisinger is coordinating with public health officials and adding screening measures at entrances across its Central Region facilities
