    Singapore Shares Stay in Green as Trade Surplus Shrinks; Medi Lifestyle Soars 44%

    Singapore shares closed in the green on Monday, with the city-state’s non-seasonally adjusted merchandise trade surplus shrank to SG$12.6 billion in July from SG$12.9 billion in June, according to data from Statistics Singapore.The Straits Times Index (STI), a key benchmark for the Singapore Exchange, ranged between 5,679.10 and 5,768.46 throughout the day. It ended the session at 5,768.46, up 24.87 points or 0.4% compared to Friday’s close.On the corporate front, shares of Medi Lifestyle (SGX:Z4D) soared over 44% at the close as it agreed to acquire a 60% stake in the issued share capital of EM2AI for SG$6.76 million from Q & M Dental Group (Singapore).Ever Glory United (SGX:ZKX) filed an application proof of the prospectus for its proposed dual primary listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.Meanwhile, Metis Energy (SGX:L02) narrowed its attributable loss to owners by 71% during the first half of the year to SG$2.6 million from SG$8.9 million a year earlier.
