Texas (KFDA) – The City of Amarillo Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) will hold a ribbon cutting Thursday for a free outdoor fitness court
The Fitness Court, located at John Ward Memorial Park at 1100 Wallace Blvd., was created in partnership with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) and National Fitness Campaign (NFC)
The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place Aug. 20 at 10 a.m
The city says after the ceremony, PARD will offer a free yoga class
Fitness Court Ambassadors will also give demonstrations on how to use the fitness equipment
The Fitness Court was developed through the partnership to expand free access to high-quality workouts and equitable access to exercise for communities across the region
Residents can also download the free Fitness Court App, which the city says can enhance the outdoor gym into a digitally supported wellness experience
The city states the Fitness Court was created for adults of all abilities and children 14-plus
Amarillo is one of the 50-plus Campaign Partners building a network of Fitness Courts across the state, with the help of BCBSTX
