The Kings will be working out a group of veterans in the coming days, the Stein Line’s Jake Fischer reports
The workouts will begin on Thursday with 32-year-old point guard Cameron Payne. The 11-year veteran played 22 games last season for the Sixers following a productive 2024/25 campaign with the Knicks that included several big playoff moments. He averaged 7.4 points, 2.6 assists, and 1.1 steals in 17.0 minutes per game for Philadelphia
Fischer adds that another ball-handler the Kings are considering taking a look at is 32-year-old Elfrid Payton. Payton’s most recent NBA action came in the 2024/25 season, when he split his year between the Pelicans and Hornets and averaged 3.5 points in 21.3 minutes while shooting 32.8% from the field. He spent last season with the Austin Spurs in the G League, averaging 6.3 points in 22.3 minutes over 29 total games
The Kings have maintained an interest in Victor Oladipo, as has been previously reported, Fischer notes. The 34-year-old held a pro day in Las Vegas in July, and the Kings were one of the teams in attendance
After waivingDeMar DeRozan earlier in the offseason, the Kings currently have 13 players under contract, leaving them with two possible openings as they head into training camp
