WONDERLAB and United Family Healthcare | Global Health Summit 2026

    PRESS RELEASE GlobeNewswire
    Aug. 24, 2026, 05:36 AM

HONG KONG, Aug. 24, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The partnership will advance microbiome research in metabolic health, while WONDERLAB showcases SHAPE100™ research and its AKKKING™ metabolic-health formula. WONDERLAB has signed a long-term strategic partnership with United Family Healthcare (UFH) to advance the clinical translation of microbiome research. Announced at Global Health Summit 2026, the collaboration will focus on metabolic health, <a href="https://healthylife7.com/illegal-imports-of-weight/” title=”Illegal imports of weight”>weight management and age-related gut health, connecting research questions from clinical practice with evidence generation and product development.

The second Global Health Summit was held Aug. 7–8 in Hong Kong, China, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Jointly organized by New Frontier Group and the Hong Kong Investment Corporation Limited, the event convened more than 1,000 healthcare experts, researchers and industry leaders under the theme “EXPONENTIAL: From Breakthrough Discoveries to Global Impact.” WONDERLAB participated in the summit’s scientific discussions, presented its latest research and signed the partnership agreement with UFH.

Microbiome Research in the Post-GLP-1 Era

Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists are playing an increasingly important role across metabolic care, from type 2 diabetes to overweight, obesity and metabolic syndrome. As their clinical use expands, attention is extending beyond weight loss to gastrointestinal experience, individual response, body composition and long-term weight maintenance. These questions formed the basis of a summit discussion titled “Post-GLP-1 Era: Microbiome Intervention and Metabolic Health,” held as part of the “Precision Health & Human 2.0: Redefining Healthy Aging” forum. The discussion examined how microbiome research can begin with clinical questions and move toward clinical translation.

Silu Zhang, chief R&D officer of the WONDERLAB Institute of Microecology and Nutrition, joined Tao Wang, CEO of NF Nova Clinical CRO, for the discussion. Wang drew on his experience in clinical research to note that GLP-1 care increasingly requires full-cycle management, including the treatment experience, long-term tolerability and health maintenance after discontinuation—considerations that he said create a clear potential role for microbiome intervention

Zhang emphasized that microbiome-based support should not be positioned as a substitute for GLP-1 medicines, nor should probiotics be presumed to relieve drug-related symptoms. Instead, she said, their role as an adjunctive management approach must be evaluated through rigorous research

Zhang also said WONDERLAB has completed a two-year randomized controlled trial of SHAPE100™ Probiotics used alongside semaglutide. According to results the combination group experienced significantly fewer gastrointestinal side effects during dose escalation than the semaglutide-only group and showed less weight regain during the three months after discontinuation

Building on those findings, WONDERLAB and UFH plan to conduct a larger real-world study. The proposed work will examine the relationship between baseline gut conditions and treatment tolerability; how dietary and lifestyle changes affect the gut microbiome and weight maintenance; and the potential clinical value of microbiome intervention in improving digestive experience and treatment persistence

    A Long-Term Clinical Translation Partnership

At the summit, WONDERLAB CEO Guoxun Xiao and Carl Wu, co-founder and CEO of New Frontier Group, attended the signing ceremony. Under the agreement, WONDERLAB will contribute its work in microbiome mechanism research, strain screening and product development, while UFH will contribute clinical settings, physician networks and research execution capabilities

The organizations will prioritize metabolic health, weight management and age-related gut health, with the goal of building a pathway from clinical questions to scientific validation, population evidence and practical solutions. They also plan to organize health lectures and educational programs to make microbiome health knowledge more accessible to the public and strengthen health-management awareness

WONDERLAB and United Family Healthcare | Global Health Summit 2026

“This agreement marks our move from individual projects into a new phase of long-term collaboration focused on clinical translation,” Zhang said. “Our goal is to make microbiome research truly serve clinical practice and patients, and to translate scientific discoveries into tangible health value.”

    From Research to Metabolic-Health Products

At its summit exhibition, WONDERLAB presented its Targeted Microbiota Weight Management Method™, a systematic approach that the company says goes beyond conventional calorie-restriction models. It also showcased a full portfolio of nutritional supplements spanning intake management, metabolic support, emotional regulation and targeted metabolic intervention. The portfolio included the morning-and-evening pairing of BODY100 PLUS™ Probiotics and SHAPE100 PLUS™ Probiotics, positioned as a time-specific, dual-track approach to gut microbiome management, as well as EASY100 PRO™ Probiotics, developed around the gut-brain axis to provide coordinated physical and emotional support for emotion-related health-management needs.

WONDERLAB also showcased AKKKING™ Multi-Effect Metabolic Probiotic Capsules, marking the product’s first public appearance at an international medical summit and drawing interest from attending experts, researchers and industry representatives. According to WONDERLAB, the formula is built around 30 billion inactivated Akkermansia muciniphila cells to directly supplement this bacterium in the gut and address metabolic-health management through multiple pathways

According to WONDERLAB, the formula is designed to activate three core pathways: GLP-1 signaling to regulate appetite, UCP-1 signaling to promote the browning of white adipose tissue, and AMPK signaling to regulate glucose and lipid metabolism. The company describes this three-pathway design as working across intake control, fat burning and metabolic regulation. WONDERLAB further reports that the formula significantly improves insulin sensitivity and helps regulate blood glucose and lipid levels.

The formulation also includes AKK BOOST™, which WONDERLAB says supports the growth of naturally occurring A. muciniphila in the gut. The company says fucoxanthin helps target visceral-fat reduction, while concentrated emblica powder helps limit carbohydrate absorption. WONDERLAB describes these ingredients as working across multiple targets to form a coordinated metabolic-health intervention. The company presented the formula as part of a broader product system spanning intake management, metabolic support, emotional well-being and targeted metabolic intervention.

WONDERLAB and United Family Healthcare | Global Health Summit 2026

From scientific discussion to partnership signing and product presentation, WONDERLAB’s participation at GHS 2026 reflected its effort to connect microbiome research with clinical collaboration and consumer-health applications. The company said it will continue working with clinical partners, including UFH, to move research from mechanisms to human evidence and from laboratory findings toward clinical and everyday-health applications, with the goal of providing more precise and effective health-management solutions for consumers worldwide.
