New federal Medicaid rules will change coverage for some people starting as soon as Oct. 1, 2026
Beginning the week of Aug. 31, New Mexico members will receive notice about new work and activity requirements

The New Mexico Health Care Authority and the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions scheduled a virtual news conference to help members get through the changes
State officials will explain the changes, including who can qualify for Medicaid, who must meet the new work or activity rules, available exemptions, and what members need to do
They will also help New Mexicans who rely on SNAP benefits after the program went through changes at the beginning of 2026
The conference is scheduled to take place on Monday, Aug. 31, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m
