- The Cleveland Clinic was named the best hospital in Ohio by U.S. News & World Report’s 2026-27 rankings.
- It is the only hospital in Ohio to be included on the national Best Hospital Honor Roll.
- The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati were ranked second and third in the state, respectively.
- U.S. News evaluated 229 hospitals in Ohio, with 16 being recognized as best regional hospitals.
The Cleveland Clinic is the best hospital in Ohio and among the best in the nation, according to a new ranking
It is the only Ohio hospital named to the Best Hospital Honor Roll in U.S. News & World Report’s 2026-27 ranking of the best hospitals, released Aug. 4. This is the 36th year the Cleveland Clinic has been ranked one of the best in the national, according to a statement from the hospital

Around the state, the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus and Christ Hospital in Cincinnati are just behind the Cleveland Clinic in U.S. News’ ranking

How did U.S. News & World Report create the hospital rankings?
To determine the best hospitals, U.S. News analyzed 4,500 hospitals based on performance measures such as risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications and patient experience. The best hospitals specialty rankings methodology as well as procedures and conditions ratings methodology measure patient outcomes using data from over 800 million records of patient care
This year, among other methodology refinements, risk-adjusted outcome measures play a larger and more dominant role in determining the rankings and ratings, while the cardiology, heart and vascular surgery specialty had a large change this year
