Gunna says refocusing on fitness and health has been life-changing. In an interview with Men’s Health, the Atlanta trap star talks about how getting serious about his body has made him a better, more disciplined person. And it’s also inspiring others to do the same.

Gunna’s focus on fitness led to an unexpected reaction from his fans and followers. Although his running and exercise began as an individual pursuit, they’ve grown into something much bigger. He hosted his first Wunna Run 5K club in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park back in September 2025. In the months since, he has led runs in Toronto, Washington, D.C., Miami, Atlanta, London, Johannesburg, Houston and Los Angeles, with thousands of fans joining.

And the majority of participants have been Black.

“We were not taught fitness like that,” Gunna says. “You got to be, like, that one who really didn’t go and hang out with the other friends. You stayed in the backyard and played basketball. You kept going to practice, to the football field. It wasn’t for everybody.”

Gunna works out five or six days a week, mostly with his trainer, Dustin Enriquez, and he alternates run days with total-body lift days and boxing sessions. On his recent global tour, which included 27 stops on four continents, Enriquez traveled with him.

“Working out helps me as a performer with my breathing, my stamina,” Gunna says. “I can move more, engage more, and give my full energy.”  Gunna now has a foothold in a wide variety of wellness endeavors, including his co-ownership of both a watermelon-based electrolyte drink called Flerish, and the Cymbiotika Wellness Bar, where he has a signature protein smoothie.

“It’s not just because of the music,” he shares. “It’s because of the discipline. It’s because of the journey. I feel like it goes together now. Can’t do one or the other. Fitness and music go together for me.”
