Iowa (KCRG) – A pharmacy technician working in Dubuque has voluntarily given up her license after she was accused of taking a medication without prescription

The following information comes from the Iowa Board of Pharmacy in a document filed this month regarding a surrendered license

The board charged Diane Richman with obtaining prescription drugs without lawful authority while she was employed with MercyOne Dubuque West Pharmacy

The complaint filed by her workplace alleges she “diverted” 330 tablets of phentermine between August 2023 and January 2026, when she was fired. Phentermine is a prescription drug commonly used for <a href="https://healthylife7.com/doctor-warns-against-purposely-trying-to-get-cyclospora-for-weight-loss/" title="Doctor warns against ‘purposely’ trying to get cyclospora for weight loss“>weight loss

The pharmacy shared video from August 2025 that reportedly shows Richman pausing in the middle of a medication count, grabbing the phentermine from the shelf and scanning in at another employee’s workstation that was left logged in. She then allegedly typed “100″ into the computer and put the bottle into a box she left with later that day

In the surrender agreement, Richman did not admit wrongdoing, but acknowledged that the allegations against her would be grounds for disciplinary action if proven to be true

Since Richman volunteered to surrender her license, she will not face disciplinary action over the matter, unless additional violations are discovered in the future
