W.Va. (WVVA) — Gov. Patrick Morrisey has announced $10.5 million in new funding through the state’s Rural Health Transformation Program, bringing the program’s total secured funding to $145 million
The latest allocation is aimed at addressing two barriers to employment in West Virginia: chronic physical health conditions and substance use disorder
Of the $10.5 million, $8.5 million will support health-to-work programs for people with chronic physical conditions, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and respiratory illness
The remaining $2 million will fund recovery-focused return-to-work programs for people with substance use disorder, including peer recovery support and recovery navigation services
“One of the best ways to increase workforce participation is by improving healthcare outcomes,” Morrisey said. “These investments help more West Virginians get the care they need, return to work, and take advantage of the opportunities we’re creating across our state.”
