A brand-new fitness studio is on its way to Abilene, delivering big-city luxury to the Big Country
It’s called The Move Lagree, a one-of-a-kind luxury fitness studio offering Lagree method fitness classes in an intimate and modern setting
“The whole vibe we’re creating is a space where everybody feels good, looks good, and it’s safe, clean and aesthetic,” said the studio’s founder, Alley Neff
But what is Lagree?
Lagree is a high-intensity, low-impact fitness method that utilizes a special patented machine called a Megaformer to achieve a whole-body workout
“It’s high heart rate, calorie burn, all of those types of things but with low impact to the muscles,” said Neff. “You’re only on your machine the whole entire time. It is really easy on the joints. Anybody anywhere in their fitness journey can take it at any age.”
“What sets it apart so differently is that most of the time, in a normal workout setting, everything is, how many reps can I get in? How fast can I run? How much can I do this?” said Neff
“Lagree, from the time you walk through the door, is your 45 minutes to slow your entire life down,” she said. “Every single move that you do on your MegaFormer from the time that you get on it is supposed to be slow, controlled, time under tension.”
Neff, herself, has been a certified Lagree instructor for two years at a studio in Lubbock before deciding to open The Move Lagree in Abilene
“The lady who opened it in Lubbock, she’s from the Dallas area, and so she brought that type of big city luxury to Lubbock,” Neff said. “So she’s kind of like mentored me a little bit through these things.”
The new studio is slated to include a bubbly bar, a front desk with merch and 12 Lagree machines, meaning classes will never be larger than 12 people
“It’s going to feel like a private training experience every single time,” said Neff
Classes will start as early as 5 a.m. and will go until around 7:30 p.m. on a 45- to 50-minute schedule, said Neff. And the studio will also offer different class packages available to purchase as well as unlimited monthly memberships and drop-ins
“There’s going to be lots of options for everybody and no commitment on any of them, which is very different from other gyms,” said Neff
The new studio will be located at 24 Hospital Drive, Suite 3, and if construction all goes according to plan, Neff said she plans to do a soft opening of the studio around Black Friday
“Around that time in the fall, my instructors are going to start a very strenuous training process before they meet you in the city because I want them to be the best of the best when everybody comes in,” said Neff
