GREEN BAY (WLUK) — A state grant aims to bring out-of-state residents to fill Brown County healthcare jobs

The $200,000 Talent Recruitment Grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation will be put into action by Heroes for Healthcare, Brown County, Emplify Health by Bellin, and Aurora Health Care

A state grant aims to bring out-of-state residents to fill Brown County healthcare jobs. (WLUK)

“It is creating opportunities for people whose calling has always been service to others. At Aurora those opportunities are limitless whether someone is looking to continue their clinical practice, pursue leadership opportunities, advance their education or explore new specialty,” said Molly Siebold, an Aurora Health Care critical care nurse

Craig Masters, Emplify Health by Bellin HR Program Consultant added, “Heroes for Health Care allows veterans to transition to civilian service and maintain their health care experience. It will help Emplify Health recruit a number of experienced and trained professionals in the allied health professions, which we have a great need.”

Under the grant program, 20 healthcare professionals who are military veterans, from out-of-state will be hired. They’ll receive $7,500 incentive bonuses, to be used for things like moving expenses

The rest of the grant funding will pay for marketing and advertising the Heroes for Healthcare program, which will handle the initial employee screening

According to Laura Hanoski, Heroes for Healthcare President/CEO, “We look at all of these different things, and then when we have them all vetted, then we send the resumes to the partner that the candidate would like to work with. And so it’s their journey, so they get to choose where they want to go to school and where they want to go to work based on what the job availability is.”

The grant requires the 20 positions at either Aurora or Emplify be filled within the next year and a half

Their relocation to Brown County not only a boost to the economy, but also the healthcare workforce

“It gives great pleasure for us to be part of this. Thank you for allowing us to be a partner and success to the health care providers in attraction of the talent that we do so desperately need in this area,” said Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach

Rough estimates of the economic impact of the 20 new healthcare workers relocating to Brown County is about $1.7 million
