SB19 was announced as the newest ambassador of Department of Tourism (DOT) on Sunday
On Instagram, the DOT posted a warm welcome for the P-pop kings, whom they described as “five Filipino artists bringing our talent, creativity, and culture to the world.”
“From their homegrown beginnings to global stages, SB19 and A’TIN continue to show just how far Filipino pride can go,” the department said
“Now, they’re inviting their global community to come closer to home and experience the Philippines—our culture, cuisine, heritage, destinations, and the unmistakable warmth of Filipino homecoming,” they added
DOT thanked SB19 and their fans A’TIN for bringing the Philippines to the world
“Now, let’s show the world what makes the Philippines worth coming home to,” they said
In their own Instagram post, SB19 said they are proud to start this new chapter
“Representing the Philippines on and off the stage,” SB19 said
The group is the newest addition to the DOT’s roster of celebrity ambassadors, alongside Korean stars Kim Myung Soo, Choi Bo Min, Seo In Guk, Vanessa Hudgens, Michelle Dee, and BINI
SB19 is set to make history as the first Filipino group to perform at Lollapalooza on July 30. In August, they will head to Japan for Summer Sonic Festival
They will also perform at the Grammy Museum for Global Spin Live on July 28 and throw the ceremonial first pitch at the Chicago White Sox vs. New York Yankees game on July 29
SB19 will also hold thanksgiving fan meets in the US and Japan next month
In October, the P-pop group will perform at the KPOPWORLD Festival in Texas
SB19 is known for their songs “GENTO,” “MAPA,” “DUNGKA,” and “VISA.” The group debuted in 2018 under ShowBT Philippines and later founded their own company, 1Z Entertainment
