WWE legend John Cena explains why he sticks to his workout routine despite not liking it

During his recent appearance on the Good Hang with Amy Poehler podcast, John Cena opened up about why he’ll never compete in a wrestling ring again. He noted that he wants to live a long, good life and doesn’t want to push his body to the limit to keep it from getting too stiff or fragile as he nears 50

“There’s multi tiers to that. I need to stop because, physically, I want to enjoy a long, good life. I don’t want to have a bunch of crusty years and punish my body. The math isn’t in my favor for the good years,” John Cena said

Cena also noted that he does heavy stretching and flexibility workouts, even though he hates it. He does it because he likes the long-term mobility and quality of life it gives him as he ages

John Cena explains why he does stretches despite hating it

When Amy Poehler asked which part of his body gives him the most trouble while competing or training, John Cena said, “Low back. I’m a male, or I’m a human at 50. That’s everyone. Aside from that, I did really good.” After being asked if he does Pilates, Yoga, and other stretchy stuff, he said, “Heavy stretchy stuff, and I hate it, and I do it a lot all the time.” He then proceeded to do a toe touch despite his suit being tight

“I can go hands flat on the floor. That’s my stretch every day in the shower. And if you walk in on me taking a shower, you’ll see me in a different POV. It’s just all the funky bits spread open. That is the every morning full spread. Start with that full spread,” Cena continued

When Poehler said she didn’t expect him to be that flexible, Cena said, “Because I have to work on that now. I want to move around, so I can talk about it or do it. It sucks, and I hate it, and I do it. But I like to do them because I like what it yields… It’s like a crusty rubber band. You’ve got to make sure you don’t let it get too weird. So physically I’m good.”

This would seem to be basic common sense, but a UVA Health emergency medicine doctor and a colleague at Clemson felt the need to spell out a framework for how hospitals integrate AI into their work, and to stress the importance of making sure AI is used, primarily, to enhance patient care
