Radio shock jock Kyle Sandilands has revealed the moment he discovered ARN was trying to cancel his contract amid his blow-up with Jackie ‘O’ Henderson

The 55-year-old was lying in bed when he got a text from his manager, Bruno Bouchet, that said: “They’re trying to cancel the contract”

“In my mind, I thought, ‘Who’s contract?’. Like, I didn’t think mine,” he said

Kyle said he thought the radio network might be trying to cancel Jackie’s contract, given that she had taken time off and didn’t want to come back

Bruno clarified that ARN was trying to cancel Kyle’s contract

“I sat up out of bed, and I thought, ‘What the f*** is going on here’,” he said

Kyle revealed he immediately went into panic mode, thinking about his businesses, his staff and his mortgages

“I had all these plans, but that all just detonated,” he said in a video

The snippet was the first look at Kyle’s four-part documentary titled “At Home With Kyle”, which premieres on Monday at 6pm

What is Kyle Sandilands up to now?

The documentary comes ahead of Kyle’s $99-a-year podcast, which kicks off on August 10

Kyle had previously insisted he “would never do the show with anyone else again”, but on Friday, unveiled journalist Mary Madigan as part of the on-air team for Kyle Sandilands Live

“I’m excited and nervous to work with my unlikely best friend, Kyle,” Mary told Yahoo Lifestyle

“It’s obviously going to be a big adventure, and I’m ready to learn a lot.”

While making it clear she isn’t replacing Jackie, Kyle said she was “all-around great chick” and explained the show’s hierarchy in typically blunt fashion

“I will present the show, and Mary will be like the second tier, and there will also be the ensemble cast as well, so there will be a lot of voices,” Kyle said in a video announcing her appointment on Friday

The launch comes after the messy breakdown of Kyle and Jackie O’s record-breaking $200 million, 10-year ARN contract

Kyle has since settled his legal dispute with the broadcaster, walking away with a $12.09 million payout.

Despite launching an independent platform, ARN still has a financial stake in its success.

Under Kyle’s settlement, the broadcaster will receive 19.9 per cent of the podcast’s revenue for the next three years, while providing $1.5 million in advertising to help launch it

What happened between Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O?

Kyle and Jackie O were in the middle of talking about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest in the UK when Jackie started discussing the stars and how his birth chart apparently influences his behaviour

But Kyle was having none of it

While he said that birth charts can be “fascinating”, he believed it was taking up far too much airtime

“I don’t mean to be rude, as I said fascinating, but I don’t think it should be at the detriment of everything else on the show,” he said

“It’s affecting other things. Your fixation on this has made you almost unworkable

“You are off with the fairies with this s**t, it’s mental.”

Kyle even likened her to a “drug addict” with the way she was obsessing over astrological claims, even though his radio co-host has spoken about addiction issues in the past

“You are not doing the rest of the job, and everyone in this building has mentioned it to me,” he added

“Everyone has said, ‘What’s going on with Jackie? She’s off today.”

But Jackie was completely taken aback by his comments and was clearly emotional

“I’m totally offended by you saying something like that,” she said

“I would never say things like that about you,” she said

“You make out like you’re perfect, but there are so many things that you don’t do, and I would never bring them up, and I would never say what people say

“I don’t want to get into a tit for tat, I think it’s mean and nasty. I don’t have a problem, but if I brought up the things people say.”
