[DigitalToday reporter Ho-jeong Lee] Smilegate Hope Studio, or Hope Studio, said on Monday it has completed the 2026 Super Speedrun Marathon Lite with Bada Games to support wish-granting for children with rare diseases

The social contribution project features gamers showcasing speedruns, clearing games in the shortest time, while fans watching the livestream raise donations in real time to help fulfill the wishes of children with rare diseases. The event has been held once a year in early January since 2021, but this year it was held one more time in the summer season as Hope Studio supported the venue and overall operating infrastructure

The event was held over three days from July 24 to 26 on an offline stage at Smilegate Campus. About 100 people, including gamers, commentators, staff and attendees, were present. A total of 23 gamers selected 32 game titles spanning classics and new releases, including “Uncharted Waters II”, “Biohazard Requiem”, “Mario Kart World” and “The First Berserker: Khazan”, and challenged for the fastest completion records. Influencer Ikari (이카리) drew attention from participants and viewers by clearing “Super Mario RPG 2023” in about 2 hours and 34 minutes.

The event was livestreamed online in full through the game streaming service Chzzk. During the broadcast period, cumulative viewers totalled 85,674 and total watch time reached 21,540 hours, drawing strong participation from game fans. An additional event, the Smile Speedrun Marathon, ran in parallel, with about 10 Smilegate employees taking part directly as gamers and commentators

Hope Studio’s donation platform is running a linked donation campaign, the Hope Quest for Dreams FUNding, until Aug. 2. The funds raised will be delivered in full to Make-A-Wish Korea without deductions for foundation operating costs, and will be used in practice for wish-granting programs for children with rare diseases

Lim Bada (임바다), chief executive of Bada Games, said the passion poured in by gamers and active participation by fans led to hope for children with rare diseases. He said Bada Games would continue to work with Hope Studio to expand positive influence based on the fun and immersive power of games

Kwon Yeon-ju (권연주), a director at Hope Studio, stressed that she was grateful to Bada Games for preparing and running the event together, to gamers and viewers who watched the broadcast for a long time and contributed through donations, and to Smilegate members who joined to make it a more meaningful occasion
