Pam Jackson’s journey to Mississippip State Queen

    Published 10:00 am Tuesday, July 28, 2026

Pam Jackson named Mississippi State Queen through TOPS

Take Off Pounds Sensibly, also known as TOPS, is a weight-loss program that has been fighting obesity since 1948. With thousands of members, this program supports individuals on their unique journeys, including here in Mississippi, where members collectively lost a total of 639 pounds in 2025. Mississippi has the second-highest obesity rate in the United States, sitting at 40.4%, and TOPS is working to reduce these numbers through education and support for its members

One of these individuals is Pam Jackson, originally from Angie, Louisiana. Through her journey with TOPS, Jackson has lost a total of 132.75 pounds. She was named the 2025 TOPS Mississippi Queen, having lost more weight than any other female TOPS member in 2025 and reaching her goal weight

Pam has been involved with TOPS since 2001 but recently intensified her <a href="https://healthylife7.com/glp-1s-are-helping-strength-training-replace-weight-loss-as-the-top-goal-at-the-gym/” title=”GLP-1s are helping strength training replace weight loss as the top goal at the gym”>weight loss journey due to serious health issues, including diabetes. With the support of TOPS, she has made significant lifestyle changes, becoming more mindful of her eating habits and incorporating exercise into her routine. With perseverance and faith in God, Pam was able to go from a size 4X to a medium/large. This transformation has allowed her to lead a more active lifestyle and spend more quality time with her children and grandchildren, adding greater meaning to her life.

After giving birth and losing her husband, Pam struggled with weight loss both physically and mentally. However, through her support group, she found the motivation and mindset changes needed for long-term commitment to her health

“You can’t call it a diet, because when you’re on a diet you get tired of that diet, and then you go back to your way of eating,” Jackson said. “You have to do a life change and change your whole outlook on things.”

Jackson credits TOPS for helping her lose weight due to its affordability and supportive community. Instead of emphasizing diet foods, she promotes simple eating habits, staying active, and avoiding unhealthy drinks and snacks. After reaching her goal weight of 180 pounds, Jackson feels accomplished with her progress and is now getting rid of her larger clothes, which led to her being named Mississippi State Queen.

For Jackson, becoming Mississippi State Queen was not her initial goal; instead, she focused on her health and personal journey. Nevertheless, she feels honored to receive this recognition and is proud to represent TOPS. She hopes that her story will inspire others like herself to make positive changes in their lives. Jackson encourages everyone to stay dedicated to their goals and invites others to join TOPS for the additional support
