    Habib Dable

Atavistik Bio has appointed biopharmaceutical executive Habib Dable to its board of directors, adding a veteran leader in drug development and commercialization as the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based clinical-stage biotechnology company advances its lead rare disease program and prepares for its next phase of growth in rare hematology

Dable joins the board as Atavistik Bio continues development of ATV-1601, an investigational oral allosteric AKT1-selective inhibitor for Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT), while expanding a pipeline built around selective allosteric therapeutics for rare hematological diseases. The company is also advancing a JAK2V617F mutant-selective inhibitor program targeting myeloproliferative neoplasms

The appointment brings more than three decades of global biopharmaceutical leadership to Atavistik Bio at a stage when clinical execution, pipeline advancement and long-term commercialization planning are becoming increasingly important. Dable has extensive experience leading biotechnology companies through growth, product launches and strategic transactions

Chief Executive Officer Bryan Stuart said Dable’s background in scaling innovative biotechnology companies aligns with the company’s transition into its next phase as a clinical-stage rare hematology business. He noted that Dable’s operational, commercial and strategic experience will support Atavistik Bio as it advances development programs, reaches key clinical milestones and builds its position in rare hematology

Dable said he was attracted by the company’s scientific platform, experienced leadership team and disciplined approach to developing therapies for patients with significant unmet medical needs. He highlighted the potential of ATV-1601 to target the underlying biology of HHT and also pointed to the company’s emerging JAK2V617F mutant-selective inhibitor program as another promising component of its pipeline. As Atavistik Bio approaches important development milestones, he said he looks forward to working with management and fellow board members to advance the company’s portfolio and long-term strategy.

Dable previously served as president and chief executive officer of Acceleron Pharma, where he oversaw the company’s evolution into a leading rare disease biotechnology company. During his tenure, Acceleron launched Reblozyl and was acquired by Merck in 2021. Before joining Acceleron, he spent more than 20 years at Bayer AG, holding leadership roles that included President of U.S. Pharmaceuticals and Global Head of Specialty Medicine

He currently serves as an advisor to RA Capital Management and sits on the boards of Tyra Biosciences, SpyGlass Pharma, Relay Therapeutics and PepGen. His previous public company board experience includes Blueprint Medicines, Day One Biopharmaceuticals, Millendo Therapeutics, Aerovate Therapeutics and Albireo Pharma. Dable earned both his Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of New Brunswick

Atavistik Bio is developing a pipeline of hematology therapies using a proprietary allosteric drug discovery approach designed to create highly selective small-molecule medicines. Alongside ATV-1601, the company is advancing programs aimed at genetically defined blood disorders with the goal of delivering targeted therapies for diseases with limited treatment options. The company is backed by investors including The Column Group, Nextech Invest, Lux Capital, Regeneron Ventures and RA Capital Management.
