Blanchard Valley Health System has welcomed Wael Haidar, MD, to the team of healthcare professionals at Infectious Disease & Travel Medicine in Findlay.
Haidar is a board-certified infectious disease specialist with experience diagnosing, managing and treating acute and chronic illnesses. Prior to joining BVHS, he practiced infectious disease medicine at Columbus Infectious Disease Specialists, a part of Central Ohio Primary Care.
“We are excited to have Dr. Haidar join BVHS,” said Kelly Shroll, chief operating officer of ambulatory services at BVHS. “His commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-focused care will make him a valuable member of our team.”
Haidar began his education at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, where he received a bachelor of science degree in genetics and medical biophysics. He then studied medicine at the Universidad Iberoamericana, a leading bilingual medical school located in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He completed an internal medicine internship and residency at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago, followed by a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, where he served as chief fellow.
“I am pleased to join BVHS and serve the Northwest Ohio community,” Haidar said. “Infectious diseases can impact every part of the body, so a comprehensive approach is necessary. My focus is always on treating the patient, not just the disease. I am grateful to be part of an organization dedicated to compassionate care.”
Haidar is a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and the American College of Physicians. He has professional interests in treating infections caused by cardiovascular implantable electronic devices (CIEDs) and joint replacement (arthroplasty) hardware. Additionally, he is interested in treating nosocomial infections, which are illnesses and infections that are contracted while receiving care at a medical facility.
Haidar is now accepting new patients at Infectious Disease & Travel Medicine, at 300 W. Wallace St., Findlay.
