Mental wellbeing isn’t something that only matters when we’restruggling. It’s something we build every day through the people we spend time with, the communities we’re part of and the habits we create

The Arthur Ellis Mental Health Foundation believes that supporting mental health should feel accessible, practical and enjoyable. That’s the thinking behind the return of its Summer Festival on Sunday August 23 at Great Linford Manor Park

Following the success of last year’s event, which welcomed thousands of visitors, this year’s festival will once again bring together families, businesses, charities and community organisations for a free afternoon dedicated to wellbeing, connection and fun

Rather than talking about mental health in a clinical setting, the festival encourages people to experience wellbeing through simple, everyday activities. From mindfulness sessions and family yoga to creative workshops, live entertainment and outdoor games, every element of the day has been designed to help people discover practical ways to support their mental health while enjoying quality time together

The event is built around the fi ve wellbeing pillars that underpin Arthur Ellis’ approach: Move, Focus, Discover, Communicate and Help. These evidence-based behaviours demonstrate that looking after mental health doesn’t always require dramatic lifestyle changes. Often, it’s the small, consistent actions that have the greatest impact

Founder Jon Manning said: “Wellbeing shouldn’t be something we only think about when we’re struggling. The best time to invest in our mental health is before we reach the point of needing support

That’s why we created the Summer Festival. The event helps people discover simple, enjoyable ways to build wellbeing into everyday life, whether that’s through movement, connection, learning something new or giving back to their community.”

For businesses, the message is equally important. Workplace wellbeing doesn’t begin and end in the offi ce. Healthy organisations are built on healthy people, and healthy people are supported by strong, connected communities

Creating opportunities for employees and their families to prioritise wellbeing outside of work can be just as valuable as initiatives delivered within the workplace itself. When communities thrive, workplaces benefit too. The Summer Festival isn’t about fixing mental health challenges

It’s about helping people build the habits, relationships and experiences that support wellbeing before those challenges arise. Whether attending with colleagues, bringing the family along or simply looking for an enjoyable day outdoors, anyone is welcome to join in and celebrate the idea that wellbeing should be accessible to everyone

The Arthur Ellis Summer Festival takes place on Sunday August 23, from midday to 5pm at Great Linford Manor Park. Entry is free, with all activities available at no cost
