    Key Takeaways

    • MinuteClinic weight-management visits will drop to $29, aiming to integrate clinical assessment, prescribing, dispensing, and longitudinal support without memberships, mail-order limitations, or inter-business handoffs.
    • A CVS–Lilly initiative will enable app-based transparent pricing for Zepbound and Foundayo, including reimbursed and cash-pay options, with same-day pickup planned by early Q4 2026.
    • Caremark reinstated Zepbound as preferred and lifted a new-to-market block on Foundayo, attributing access changes to sustained class-wide pricing negotiations with GLP-1 manufacturers.
    • CVS plans to lower patient cost exposure via discount cards, coupons, vouchers, and Medicare GLP-1 Bridge participation, citing potential monthly outlays of $25, $149, or $50.
    • Embedded pharmacist support is positioned as a differentiator for initiation and persistence, while employer-sponsored weight-loss GLP-1 coverage remains limited at roughly 20% of large firms.

CVS Health is pairing a new Lilly pricing collaboration with a $29 MinuteClinic visit and expanded pharmacist support, disclosed alongside a sharp Q2 earnings beat

CVS Health has announced that it is overhauling its direct-to-consumer weight management offerings, cutting the price of MinuteClinic weight-management visits to $29 and adding pharmacist support across its 9,000 U.S. pharmacy locations, alongside a new pricing collaboration with Eli Lilly and Company for eligible patients taking Zepbound and Foundayo.1

CVS Health said the changes are meant to connect scheduling, clinical evaluation, medication access and pharmacist support into a single experience, without separate memberships, mail-order-only access or fragmented handoffs between its MinuteClinic and CVS Pharmacy businesses

The news follows CVS Caremark’s decision to reinstate Zepbound as a preferred formulary option and lift its new-to-market block on Foundayo
, moves the pharmacy benefit manager attributed to sustained pricing negotiations with manufacturers across the GLP-1 class

How Does the Lilly Collaboration Change GLP-1 Pricing Access?

CVS Health and Lilly are working together to let patients taking Zepbound and Foundayo “more easily access” transparent pricing, including both reimbursed and cash-pay options, in the CVS Health app.1 The feature is expected by early Q4 2026 and will support same-day pickup at CVS Health’s roughly 9,000 retail pharmacy locations

The collaboration builds on CVS Pharmacy’s existing availability of oral and injectable Wegovy, positioning the chain to offer all FDA-approved GLP-1 medications regardless of how a prescription is reimbursed or where a patient obtains it, according to the company

“Weight management is a deeply personal health journey, and too many people face barriers before they start treatment,” said Sid Tenneti, senior vice president and interim president, pharmacy and consumer wellness, at CVS Health.1 “CVS Health combines clinical care, pharmacy access, digital tools and trusted pharmacist support to make that journey simpler, more affordable, and more connected. Our collaboration with Lilly is one more way we’re expanding direct to consumer access to help eligible patients find options that work best for them.”

How Is CVS Pharmacy Addressing Out-of-Pocket Costs?

CVS Pharmacy accepts a range of third-party prescription discount cards, manufacturer coupons and manufacturer vouchers to offset GLP-1 costs.1 The company said out-of-pocket costs can run as low as $25 a month through commercial insurance combined with a manufacturer coupon for eligible patients, or $149 a month for uninsured patients using a manufacturer voucher for qualifying medications and doses

CVS Pharmacy also participates in the CMS Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program
, which runs through Dec. 31, 2027 and allows eligible Medicare beneficiaries to access certain GLP-1 medications for $50 a month.1

How Does the Announcement Align with CVS Health’s Earnings?

CVS Health disclosed the Lilly collaboration the same day it reported second-quarter 2026 results, posting net income of $2.98 billion and beating Wall Street’s earnings and revenue estimates by a wide margin.2 The company raised its full-year adjusted earnings guidance to $7.90-$8.10 per share, up from a prior range of $7.30-$7.50, citing strength across its pharmacy, PBM and insurance segments

What Are the Market Access Implications for Pharmacy and PBM Strategy?

CVS Health cited its 2025 Rx Report in framing the pharmacist’s role in the new model, noting that nearly half of consumers prioritize personalized care at the pharmacy and 80% of patients prefer face-to-face engagement over digital interactions.1 Under the revamped program, a CVS pharmacist is available in person at 9,000 locations to support patients starting and staying on GLP-1 therapy, at no additional cost

The announcement comes as employer coverage of GLP-1 medications for weight loss remains uneven, with only one in five large firms covering the drugs for weight loss in 2025, according to the KFF Employer Health Benefits Survey.3
