Four new behavioral health care programs are launching at Children’s Medical Center Plano for Collin County children and teens

A Children’s Health spokesperson said three of the new programs started seeing patients the week of July 27. She said their fourth program will start seeing patients in mid-August

The Suicide Prevention and Resilience at Children’s Health program, or SPARC, provides care for therapy, parent education, medication management and coordinated transitions for youth at risk of self-harm or worsening suicidal thoughts, per a news release. Families can attend programming two or three times a week for four to six weeks depending on their needs, according to the hospital website

The Outpatient Psychiatry and Psychology program helps children and teens manage behavioral health conditions while maintaining school and daily routines. Medical health professionals can help with anxiety, depression, eating disorders and more according to the hospital website

The Autism Outpatient Care program provides assessments, evaluations and short-term treatment or medication for children using a team approach, according to the hospital website

The Teen Recovery Program, or TRP, is launching Aug. 17 and provides psychiatric care, therapy, parent support and outpatient treatment for teens with mental health conditions and those using substances. The clinic does regular drug testing, motivational therapy and provides incentives for teens, according to the hospital website

“These programs connect children and teens with specialized support closer to where they live, helping families navigate challenges earlier and access the right level of care when it matters most,” Jason Isham, vice president and clinical director of behavioral health at Children’s Health, said in a statement

    The background

Children’s Medical Center Plano opened in 2008, according to its website, and sees more than 370,000 patients a year. The center started its expansion in 2020, per previous reporting, and opened a new tower that expanded its emergency room capabilities in 2024

The center also opened a new public amenities corridor in June with a library, chapel, coffee shop and cafe
