State health department announces new regional medical director

JOHNSON CITY — The Tennessee Department of Health has announced Dr. Cynthia Thomas as its new Northeast Regional Health Office medical director, according to a press release. 
Thomas will help oversee operations for eight county health departments and their primary care services, which include immunizations, prenatal health, family planning and dental procedures.
“I am excited to serve the Northeast Region as Regional Medical Director as we work together to provide a broad range of <a href="https://healthylife7.com/marena-works-remembered-for-nevada-public-health-leadership/" title="Marena Works remembered for Nevada public health leadership”>public health and healthcare services to our communities and support Tennessee Department of Health’s mission to protect, promote, and improve the health and well-being of all Tennesseans,” Thomas said in the news release.
Northeast Regional Health Director Rebekah English added in the announcement that Thomas brings an impressive background and years of experience.
The physician has degrees from Concord University, the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and Emory University, according to her LinkedIn, and completed a residency at the Emory University School of Medicine. She has worked in the TDH Northeast office for more than a decade.
