Former NYC Mayor Eric Adams showed off his assets this week, posting a shirtless selfie — while clutching an XL cucumber and a red bell pepper to promote healthy eating

“65 years old and I’ve never been in better shape!” a buffed Adams boasted on X Friday

“A few years before I became Mayor, diabetes nearly cost me my eyesight. I changed my diet, changed my lifestyle, and changed my life.”

The centrist Democrat – who made healthy living a key platform throughout his four years in office that ended in 2025 with an aborted re-election campaign — noted that he and his 29-year-old son Jordan Coleman “have a competition to see who will be in the best shape of our lives by our [upcoming] Virgo birthdays.”

“I’m going to win, Jordan. My secret weapon: VEGGIES,” added Adams, who included crying-laughing, cucumber and pepper emojis

“This photo isn’t about showing off (okay, maybe a little bit of that too). It’s about showing what’s possible when you take control of your health. Eat your vegetables!”

Adams – and his veggies — were immediately roasted on X

“You shirtless holding a cucumber was NOT on my bingo card! What’s the name of this porno? lol,” wrote former congressman and convicted fraudster George Santos (R-NY), while including a crying-laughing emoji

“Hear me out: Only Fans,”quipped progressive activist Nomiki Konst, the ex-girlfriend of former far-left Mayor Bill de Blasio

One account, calling itself”Sunshine Sunnybunz,”posted what appeared to be an AI-generated photo, taking Adams’ original photo and swapping the pepper for a huge bottle of baby oil

Others paid respect to Adams’ jacked-up look, and debated whether it was less about healthy eating and more about a thirst trap

“The funniest thing about this is that I can’t tell if this is Eric Adams thirst trapping or if it’s AI Generated…,” wrote podcasterForrest Miller

“People are debating the cost of groceries and general cost of living and here goes eric adams thirst trapping on main in the middle of the day,” goofed another X user

“Careful, Eric. Mamdani and the DSA are going to see that cucumber and slap a wealth tax on it,” said ex-Councilman Robert Holden, a centrist Queens Dem, referring to Mayor Zohran Mamdani and his comrades at the Democratic Socialists of America

“Give this UNC credit, no matter how you feel about him,”said Queens Borough President Donavan Richards,a Democrat, who included a muscles-flexing emoji

Todd Shapiro, a spokesman for Adams, told The Post, “When a former mayor takes his shirt off and poses for a photo, of course it’s going to become a story. This is New York.”

“But behind the laughs and the photos is actually a serious story about health, discipline and second chances,” added Shapiro, who credits Adams with helping him lose 130 pounds and combat obesity

“Eric Adams has spoken and written extensively about his wellness journey, going plant-based, transforming his lifestyle and reversing his Type 2 diabetes. Now, after turning 60, he’s proud of the shape he’s in.”

“And after everything Eric Adams has been called over the years, ‘too fit after 60’ is probably one criticism he’s willing to live with,” he said
