Ohio – A public health alert has been issued for meat and poultry products containing jalapeños that may be contaminated with salmonella, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service
The FSIS said it expects additional products will be identified and the alert will be updated
Products subject to the alert involve multiple states, including Ohio. Here is the full list
Consumption of food contaminated with Salmonella can cause salmonellosis, a bacterial foodborne illness. Common symptoms are diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever within six hours to six days after eating the product. The illness usually lasts four to seven days. Consumers who have purchased the products are urged to throw them away or return them to the place of purchase for a refund. Retailers are urged not to serve or sell them
