Michelle Obama may have just influenced Megan Thee Stallion’s workout routine
The rapper recently took her first Solidcore class after hearing the former First Lady rave about the notoriously challenging workout during an appearance on the IMO with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson podcast

And this wasn’t just a casual recommendation. Michelle knew exactly what Megan was getting herself into
During their conversation, Michelle revealed that she had been doing Solidcore since her years in the White House, describing the intense workout and its slow, controlled movements

“It’s a military kind of situation,” Michelle joked while explaining the experience to Megan. She also warned her about one particularly intimidating part of the workout, a three-minute plank
Rather than scaring Megan away, the description appeared to have the opposite effect. “I already asked my people in New York, can y’all find me a Solidcore class?” Megan told Michelle
Megan actually took Michelle Obama’s advice:
She wasn’t kidding. About a month after the conversation, Megan showed up at a Solidcore studio to put Michelle’s recommendation to the test, documenting her first experience on TikTok

Calling herself “Hot Girl Coach,” the Grammy winner took on the demanding workout and gave fans a glimpse at just how challenging her first class proved to be
By the end, Megan had discovered something new about her own body. “I think I just now figured out what an oblique was,” she joked after the workout.

The moment is especially funny considering Megan is hardly a stranger to the gym. The rapper has frequently shared her fitness journey and workouts with fans, and earlier this year told People that exercise had become an outlet for her emotions
“I started going to the gym because I needed somewhere to release emotions,” she told the outlet

Michelle has been doing the workout for years:
Michelle’s history with Solidcore goes back more than a decade. The Washington Post reported in February 2014 that the then-First Lady had been spotted leaving a Solidcore studio in Washington, D.C.’s Adams Morgan neighborhood with her Secret Service detail

Later that month, the outlet reported another visit, and by July, Michelle had been spotted at the studio for at least the third time
Founded in Washington, D.C. in 2013, Solidcore is a high-intensity, low-impact strength workout performed on a custom-built reformer. Classes emphasize slow and controlled movements designed to work muscles to the point of fatigue

Fitness has long been an important part of Michelle’s life. During her White House years, she regularly spoke about her workout routine and made physical activity a central component of her Let’s Move! initiative
Back in 2012, Michelle revealed that she and then-President Barack Obama worked out regularly and said her own routine included everything from cardio and kickboxing to Pilates and stretching
More than a decade later, one of her favorite workouts has apparently found a new celebrity recruit, and Megan’s first class proved Michelle wasn’t exaggerating about the challenge
