    Pa. — The Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing’s Center for Nursing Research (CNR) has announced its Research Talks for the 2026-27 academic year. This eight-part virtual series is designed to advance nursing research by fostering collaboration between researchers to bridge the gap between research theory and application

    The talks offer participants the chance to explore ongoing research initiatives, expand evidence-based knowledge, and contribute to the development of clinical best practices and interventions aimed at improving patient outcomes

    Sessions are free and hosted virtually from noon to 1 p.m. Advance registration is required and can be completedhere. Each session has been submitted for 1.0 ANCC NCPD contact hour for valid RNs (registered nurses) who meet all requirements

    Aug. 26 — The Project Talk Trial: Leveraging Artificial Intelligence for Large Scale Qualitative Analysis

    • Presented by Lauren Jodi Van Scoy, professor of medicine and public health sciences, Penn State College of Medicine. 

    Sept. 23 — Approaches to Conduct Research with Agricultural and Rural Communities

    • Presented by Florence Becot, Nationwide Insurance Early Career Professor of Agricultural Safety and Health, Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences

    Oct. 28 — USING AI to DRIVE IMPACT: The Hidden Wealth of Nursing Narratives

    • Presented by Vida Abedi, associate professor of public health sciences, Penn State College of Medicine

    Dec. 2 — Health Disparities: Defining and Addressing Requires All of Us

    • Presented by Fornessa Randal, director of the Center for Advancing Health Equity in Rural and Underserved Communities and associate professor of medicine and public health sciences, Penn State College of Medicine

    Jan. 27 — Using Hybrid Effectiveness Studies to Facilitate Implementation of Dementia Care Innovations in Community-Based Settings

    • Presented by Joseph Gaugler, Distinguished McKnight University Professor and Robert L. Kane Endowed Chair in Long-Term Care and Aging, University of Minnesota School of Public Health

    Feb. 10 — Effective Data Visualization for Health Researchers: Common Pitfalls and Best Practices in the Age of AI

    • Presented by Jennifer Valcin, statistician, Penn State University Libraries

    April 7 — Tools of the Trade: Research Project Management Fundamentals

    • Presented by Heather Costigan, program manager, Penn State College of Medicine

    April 28 — Incorporation of Artificial Intelligence into Psychosocial Interventions: Pragmatic Experiences with AYA-PeerConnect

    • Presented by Pooja Rao, associate professor of pediatrics, Penn State College of Medicine

    The college is an approved provider of nursing continuing professional development by the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation

    About the CNR

    The CNR provides an organized infrastructure to support research faculty and their interdisciplinary teams throughout the various stages of their projects, from preparing proposals and obtaining funding to disseminating results in peer-reviewed journals and at national and international conferences. Interdisciplinary collaboration is the hallmark of the college’s approach to research, and researchers interested in participating in the talks are invited to get involved.
