<p>(Hamilton County, Oh.) – Hamilton County Public Health recommends that people and pets temporarily avoid contact with the Whitewater River and the downstream Great Miami River.</p>
<p>Raw sewage discharge is currently affecting the Whitewater River in Connersville, Indiana (about 50 miles northwest of Hamilton County) following recent flooding. The Whitewater flows downstream into the Great Miami River and eventually the Ohio River.</p>
<p>Here’s what residents can do to reduce health risks:</p>
<ul>
<li>Do not swim, boat or play in or near potentially contaminated waterways.</li>
<li>Monitor children and pets closely, as they are more likely to swallow water while playing</li>
<li>Avoid letting bare skin come into contact with contaminated water.</li>
<li>Wash hands, clothing and footwear thoroughly if you need to be in these areas.</li>
