Gurri Wanyarra Wellbeing Centre Exercise Physiology program supports 101-year-old build strength

The Exercise Physiology program at Gurri Wanyarra Wellbeing Centre, managed by Belgra 101-year-old Dennis ‘John’ Todd build strength and stay active
Todd has been attending the Exercise Physiology hydrotherapy group for the past three years with his son Greg, who supports and motivates him to complete his exercises
Programs like the Exercise Physiology program at Gurri Wanyarra Wellbeing Centre support people of all ages and abilities to improve strength, mobility and overall wellbeing through guided, evidence-based exercise. This reflects Belgra – with over 55 healthy ageing programs running across the network
John’s son, Greg shared “a few years ago, dad was having a lot of falls. The work he has done to maintain his fitness since then is inspiring.”
John said the program also plays an important role in his wellbeing beyond physical health and adds “Meeting people is what keeps me going.”
Bella Lopez, Senior Exercise Physiologist at Gurri Wanyarra advised “John has been a valued member at Gurri and it has been a joy seeing him engaged in exercise through hydrotherapy
“John is a great role model for the community staying active at his age. He always has a smile and laugh and never misses the opportunity for a cheeky chat,”
Liam Rea, Exercise Physiologist at Gurri Wanyarra added “John’s effort and determination, along with his humour, are a goal we should all strive for at any age.”
