The 6 Pillars for Emotional Wellbeing video series launched in July 2025. It features local and national health experts, community partners and parents and was developed through the 2022 Community Health Improvement Plan, which identified youth behavioral health as a priority
“These six pillars are really foundational to emotional wellness, and I talk about you and adolescence because that’s really where it’s done from but it’s really all individuals from our community can benefit from these,” said Kerry Kernen
The six pillars are sleep, physical activity, nutrition and hydration, relational connectedness, mastery and quieting

The videos address healthy sleep habits, the connection between movement and emotional health, proper nutrition and hydration, building strong relationships, learning and developing skills, and ways to pause and reset
All six videos are available through the City of Lincoln’s 6 Pillars for Emotional Wellbeing webpage
The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department partnered with Bryan Health, CHI Health St. Elizabeth and other community partners to create the resource
The Health Department is now working with Lincoln City Libraries to bring the information to more people
“One of the ideas that came from this work group is, I wonder what it would look like in partnership with Library because they have so many patrons that come through their door. They’re looking for periodicals and books and rend easy?” Kernen said
Libraries are highlighting the pillars through book displays and recommended reading
“Lincoln City is a place where people come to seek out information and to find information, so it seems like a natural fit to spread the good word about Six Pillars for Emotional Well-Being,” said Ali Bousquet of Lincoln City Libraries
