Stormont Vail and Senator Marshall share one goal: to improve the quality of rural healthcare while making it more affordable
The senator made around 90 stops in August to see where money from the rural health transformation plan (RHT) is being spent
$220 million is being distributed this year
The senator called Stormont Health’s plan the most thought-out plan he’s seen yet
Stormont says it is expanding plans that have already worked to rural counties
They’ve received a $20-million share of the $1.3 billion granted to hospitals across the state
“Kansas is not being reimbursed fairly on Medicaid patients, different than other states, and I had no idea what the impact would be, but 1.3 billion dollars spread across 105 counties. It’s gonna be very impactful,” Senator Marshall said
