A tropical depression has formed in the Gulf, and is expected to bring impacts to Southeast Texas. The Houston-area can expect heavy rain on Tuesday, and a tropical storm warning is in effect for portions of the Texas and Louisiana coasts

This is the same disturbance that the National Hurricane Center designated Invest 97L over the weekend and Potential Tropical Cyclone 5 on Monday morning

A tropical depression has winds of less than 38 mph

If it becomes a tropical storm, meaning winds of 39 mph or higher, it would get the name Edouard.

Tropical Depression 5 is located off the coast of Louisiana and is moving to the west-northwest

What is the forecast track for Tropical Depression 5?

According to the NHC, Tropical Depression 5 is forecast to continue moving northwest toward the Texas coast. It is forecast to become a tropical storm by Monday night

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued from Port Bolivar, Texas to the Vermilion/Cameron Parish line in Louisiana

A Storm Surge Watch has been issued for the Texas coast from High Island to Louisiana

Flood alerts have also been issued for parts of Southeast Texas, including for Houston
