Idaho DMV rolls out self-service kiosks at grocery stores for faster renewals

Idaho drivers will soon be able to renew their vehicle registrations while running errands, as the Idaho DMV rolls out new self-service kiosks designed to help customers “Skip the Trip” statewide
The kiosks, which will be placed inside local grocery stores, are intended to provide a quick and secure option for select transactions. At launch, customers can renew their standard vehicle registration. Updates to personal or vehicle information will not be available initially
The first kiosks are expected to debut over the next several weeks as part of a phased launch across Idaho. The initial soft launch includes five locations in the Treasure Valley, all inside Albertsons and Fred Meyer stores:
Albertsons, 3614 West State St., Boise
Fred Meyer, 3527 S. Federal Way, Boise
Fred Meyer, 1850 E. Fairview Ave., Meridian
Fred Meyer, 5230 W. Franklin St., Boise
Fred Meyer, 1400 W. Chinden Blvd., Meridian
Within a month of the first five kiosks, four additional locations are expected to come online across the state:
Albertsons, 2400 12th Avenue Road, Nampa
Fred Meyer, 1555 Northgate Mile, Idaho Falls
Fred Meyer, 800 Yellowstone Ave., Pocatello
Smith’s, 1913 Addison Ave. E, Twin Falls
The DMV also plans to add another self-service kiosk in the Coeur d’Alene area, with the final location to be announced
The kiosk program is part of the DMV’s broader effort to modernize customer service and expand access to quick, easy and flexible renewal options, with more locations and features planned as the rollout continues
Drivers who use the kiosks should expect added costs: a vendor service charge will apply, along with a standard credit card fee
