N.C. (WBTV) – A Charlotte mother who has spent years caring for her daughter with juvenile Huntington’s disease is getting some much-needed help
Erika Eiger’s daughter, Olitrol her head and upper body. Even lifting her in and out of a car could be dangerous. Erika Eiger needed a wheelchair accessible van but did not have the money

That van is now changing every trip Olid into a car, Erika can roll her up the ramp and lock her safely in place
“It has been a million times easier. We wheel her down through the garage and through the ramp and right up into the vans ramp and she stays in it,” Erika Eiger said. “We do not have to take her out and transfer her, worry about dropping her on the cement, the concrete, anything like that.”
That safety means Erika Eiger and her daughter can spend less time worrying about how to get somewhere and more time enjoying being there
“She goes to, you know, two PT therapies each week and horse therapy, to be able to go out into the community, for us to be able to go and enjoy different things, going to my sister’s or if we want to go bowling. Yes, we can do all those things now,” Erika Eiger said
The van is helping Oli
“It has the air conditioning and the heat in the back. So it keeps her comfortable,” Erika Eiger said
Erika Eiger says she has not forgotten everyone who helped them get this far
“We were totally blessed. It was just absolutely amazing to see the amount of money that people donated towards this, the kind words, thoughts of encouragement. It was just, it’s an absolute blessing that there are so many kind and generous people out there in this world,” Erika Eiger said
Erika Eiger says that gift and support are something she will not ever take for granted
