    DIBRUGARH: Assam Medical College & <a href="https://healthylife7.com/summer-baby-boom-at-lois-hole-hospital-for-women-in-edmonton/” title=”Summer baby boom at Lois Hole Hospital for Women in Edmonton”>Hospital (AMCH), Dibrugarh, on Friday began providing medicines to rare disease patients for the first time since being designated a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Rare Diseases under the National Policy for Rare Diseases (NPRD), 2021, marking a major step forward for specialised healthcare in the Northeast

    Sixteen patients, aged between 1.5 and 25 years, attended the hospital on the day, arriving from across the region, including Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Tezpur, Sipajhar, Guwahati, Nagaon, and one from as far as Tripura. Medications were provided for two conditions, Spinal Muscular Atrophy and Turner Syndrome, with the hospital stating that treatment would continue on a phased basis going forward

    “Today is a notable day for Assam Medical College. Over its 80-year heritage, this esteemed medical institution has steadily made progress in various areas. From today, we are providing medicines to rare disease patients for the first time since being designated a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Rare Diseases,” said Dr Sanjeeb Kakati, Principal of AMCH.
